New Managing Director for North Lancs Training Group

Accrington based training provider, North Lancs Training Group (NLTG), have appointed a new Managing Director.

Gareth Lindsay took on the position on the 1st August 2018 when outgoing Managing Director, Jim Harkness MBE, stepped aside after over 26 years at the helm. Jim has now moved on to an ambassadorial role for North Lancs Training Group on a part-time basis.

Jim was the only employee of NLTG when he started in 1973, over 45 years ago. He has led the company superbly well for many years overseeing significant growth and much success. He was awarded an MBE from the Queen for his services to training in 2011.

Gareth spent the first part of his career in the hospitality industry, managing pub-restaurants and hotels before becoming a HR manager for Thistle Hotels, his last role before joining NLTG.

Gareth joined NLTG in September 2000 as a Hospitality Tutor. He held Team Leading and Senior Management positions, prior to being appointed Operations Director in 2015. On the 1st August he started the next chapter of his career as Managing Director of the company.

Gareth said, “I am honoured to be Managing Director of this fantastic company. I look forward to leading our hardworking and dedicated team into the future and building on the success we have enjoyed over the years. We will continue to ensure that NLTG provides the best possible opportunities to employers and learners alike to develop themselves and their businesses to be the very best they can.”

Jim commented, “It has been a privilege to lead NLTG for the majority of my working life. We have a wonderful team and together, we have built a wonderful company, which has developed so many people’s careers over many years. I wish Gareth all the very best as he takes over the reins and I am sure, under his leadership, NLTG will continue to enjoy future success.”
