What is your job role and what does that involve?
I am completing a Level 3 Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship in the Digital Services team at Lancashire County Council (County Hall), where I work in the digital support team and am the first line of support for my fellow workers at Lancashire County Council.
How did you find out about Apprenticeships and why did you decide to undertake one?
I found out about NLTG from my mum who used to work at Lancashire County Council. She discussed the opportunities that NLTG could offer, and I decided that this was the path I wanted to go down.
What skills have you gained during your Apprenticeship and/or what qualifications are you working towards at the moment?
I have learnt a lot of skills while on my programme. I have massively improved my customer service, tech support and reporting skills, which I have been helped to develop by NLTG and Lancashire County Council. A big thing that NLTG has helped me with is supporting me to really progress with my maths and English. I didn’t achieve these qualifications at school but with the help of NLTG I was able to complete my Level 2 functional skills qualifications.
What do you enjoy most about doing an Apprenticeship?
I enjoy being in a position to help people with their problems, and I get to improve the support for my fellow staff members.
What’s your next step once you have completed your Apprenticeship?
I applied for a Level 4 job role at Lancashire County Council, and I am happy to report that I secured the position. This would not have been possible without NLTG as they have been a real help getting me through my Apprenticeship, especially Charlotte Banks for helping me complete my maths and English, which I found difficult and did not pass the first time around. I owe a lot to Lorna, Tony and Charlotte at NLTG for being patient and helping me overcome challenges to achieve my English and maths goals. Passing these qualifications means I can successfully complete my Apprenticeship.
