We are delighted to announce that Charlotte Brooks is the winner of NLTG’s 2024 Apprentice of the Year Award… congratulations Charlotte!
Charlotte is a Business Administrator at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council in Ashton-under-Lyne. Despite only being there for six months, Charlotte has grown to become a key part of the Tameside MBC team and is thriving in all areas of her role, regularly leading projects and even helping to train colleagues.
Left to right: Richard Morris (Project Manager), Lisa Hannigan (Charlotte’s NLTG Tutor), Charlotte Brooks (Apprentice of the Year Winner) and Gareth Lindsay (NLTG Managing Director).
NLTG Apprenticeship Tutor, Lisa Hannigan, said:
“Charlotte has demonstrated exceptional professionalism from day one of her Apprenticeship. She has been inquisitive but has also put her learning into practice straight away.
Charlotte is now leading on projects within her team, as well as training colleagues on digital skills so they can teach those skills to the young people they cater for. These skills were a gap in the team and one that Project Manager Richard would have previously had to outsource for training materials, or completely omit from their offering.
Charlotte has designed and is delivering the training to her much more experienced colleagues. This would be daunting for many, and as Charlotte has also only been with the team for six months, this represents a true strength of character.
I am really impressed by her professionalism with the young people she works with, she creates healthy boundaries, which are important given the closeness in age, but also allows herself to be a role model.
She was not comfortable in addressing over 100 people in her first six weeks, but she did it, and the achievement for her has been fantastic.
Charlotte should be immensely proud of everything she has achieved so far and as her tutor, I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Richard Morris, Project Manager for Economy, Employment and Skills Investment, Developing and Housing Place at Tameside MBC, added:
“Upon joining Tameside MBC at the start of June, Charlotte immediately made a positive impression on all of the team with her confidence, competence, intelligence and professionalism. She has taken on increasing levels of task, challenge and responsibility with ease.
I cannot imagine another Apprentice that offers as much as Charlotte, she is brilliant in her role and beyond; she has made a fantastic impression on the whole of Economy Employment and Skills, and beyond. She is what we hope for and aspire to in an Apprentice.”
Well done Charlotte, we wish you all the best in your continued journey at Tameside MBC!
